The Agroindustrial Establishment El Desafío was strategically designed for the cultivation and industrialization of rice, and with the aim of making it more efficient, other very important activities for the company were added, such as the production of semolina and corn flour, reforestation, and sawmill, carpentry and citrus growing.
This venture, with more than 4,800 Hectares, located in the city of Gral. Delgado - Itapúa, is the result of a combination of planning and investment that aims to produce mainly food, with an extraordinary human group of collaborators that has expanded throughout the years and who make it possible to achieve these goals.
The project began in 2002 preparing land in areas that were flooded. The water was channeled to large reservoirs, where we also capture rainwater, and this allows us to ensure and control the water supply throughout the establishment through pumping stations and water channel systems. The large reservoirs make it possible to develop the crop without generating any impact on the environment, on the contrary, the fields today serve as natural habitat for wild animals.
For sowing, we use a high-tech system, where the seeds are placed in trays to be first pre-germinated under strict temperature and humidity control, then they are transferred to the nursery so that they grow and once they have a suitable siz, they are taken to the fields where special teams transplant each plant with the exact distance and separation to make the most of the available soil and water, achieving a higher yield per hectare and a considerable increase in the amount of whole grain. In addition to the modern and innovative seedling transplant sowing system, we also use airplanes that allow us to sow pregerminated seeds or apply fertilization to the fields at the ideal time.
